Video consultations via the web connect psychologists and patients who are far away but share the same cultural context. Online psychotherapy, which was already regulated in the country but had time limitations that have now ended, is becoming a possibility and is proliferating!
Benefits
These virtual platforms connect those who seek convenience and a price differential and those who, living outside Brazil, seek this service in their native language. Thus, online consultations allow those who are far from their cultural references to express feelings more naturally.
Residents abroad constitute a niche for this service due to dilemmas inherent to expatriate/immigrant life: cultural adaptation, raising children, being away from family, and being away from the sun.
Other relevant factors in the online option are the flexibility of schedules and the greater ease that those analyzed find in talking about themselves in virtual plans.
Restrictions
Many roads lead to Rome. Many facilities and conveniences converge on this psychotherapeutic ‘modus’, which is now widely regulated in the country, not without some restrictions.
In the regulatory resolution published in November 2018, the Federal Council of Psychology ponders and reaffirms that people in emergency situations must be attended to in person.
